Daniel Negreanu’s Goals in 2018

Daniel Negreanu’s Goals in 2018

  1. To break through the mark of $40,000,000 earned in live tournaments. It means that the poker player will have to earn $4,680,186 this year. If he does, this will be his second most successful year (after 2014). Daniel is very positive, as he managed to achieve this result by playing $10,000 tournaments (for example, in 2004 he earned over 4,6 million). With numerous tournaments for high rollers, this will make things much easier.
  2. To win the WSOP bracelet. Last year, Negreanu overestimated his opportunities and realized that even winning 1 bracelet is difficult enough, so if he wins the bracelet in 2018 he will be very pleased with such a result.
  3. To break through the mark of 115 hits in the WSOP tournament cash and/or catch up with Phil Hellmuth. Daniel believes that it will not be so difficult if he plans a busy schedule for the WSOP. He needs to get into the prizes of 12 tournaments to step over the mark of 115 hits in cash or cash out 24 prizes to catch up with Phil Hellmuth.
  4. Profit of $2,000,000. Despite the goal to earn about 5 million in live tournaments, Negreanu also took into account the fact that he is likely to spend about $3,000,000 on buy-ins in 2018, which means that his goal to be in the black at $ 2,000,000 is quite logical.
  5. To finish the year in the GPI Top 30. Negreanu finished last year in the 40th place in the GPI POY rankings. In general, he is at 73 position in the rating. It is difficult for Daniel to compete with younger players with an active tournament schedule, but he intends to play enough games to squeeze into the top 30.
  6. To get to the SHRB or One Drop final table. Super High Roller Bowl and Big One for One Drop are ones of the most expensive poker tournaments.
  7. To win the Poker Masters or the US Poker Open. The only thing that stops Negreanu is that he tore leg ligament and needs surgery. He intends to do it when he returns from the Bahamas in January, so he is not sure that he will be physically ready to play the US Poker Open (less than two weeks after the operation).
  8. To stay #1 on the All-Time Money List.
  9. To win a Super High Roller tournament. Daniel often gets into the prizes of various tournaments, but he has not won anything quite a while. In 2018 Negreanu is going to fix this and sets himself the goal to win not only a bracelet but at least one Super High Roller.
  10. 120 hours of poker. This is important for the fulfillment of all the above goals. It will not be too difficult to spend 10 hours a month on training and analysis of the game, but it will bring a lot of benefits. Without work on the game, it will be difficult for him to keep up with the successful young generation of poker players.
